Cohen the Pest.....

I realized yesterday that Cohen has become the "pesky" little brother. Ames has held the title for quite some time, but now Cohen has definitely taken over.

He can scoot on his bottom and army crawl pretty fast now, so he makes a quick beeline to whatever or whoever he wants. He has Doppler radar on Ames' sippy cups. Every time I look up he has one in hand turning it up! Poor little guy wants to drink so badly. Hopefully that will happen soon, but that is a while other subject!

He also loves his walker and can really, really, move fast with it. He loves to pull up beside the kitchen drawers and pull out all the dish towels. Don't let him near a laundry basket! It will be scattered all over the house.

Last night, Calee and Ames were in her bed watching the movie Tangled. Cohen kept rolling into her room and blocking the T.V. He was doing his "attention yell" at them and disrupting the movie. Calee told me "Cohen is such a nuisance tonight!" So then Ames would copycat and say "Cohen is a nunsun". It was so funny.

I have a feeling this "pesky" little man is just going to be more and more into things! I LOVE it!
He stands up on one foot and pulls up on furniture

Eating some puffs! YAY!

His favorite dish towel drawer. He also opens the bottom freezer!

He's so cute you can hardly tell him NO!

Calee and her book club!

For the last few weeks, Ames has insisted that Calee be the one to read his bedtime books. She gets really into it doing all the voices and sounds of the characters. Ames and Cohen both gather around her and it is the sweetest thing.

I finally thought to take a few pictures last night. They started out in the living room and then she reads to just Ames in his bed.
They start out pretty attentive.

They love hearing her and get so excited.

About 3 minutes in they decide Elmo needs to listen too

It ends up getting a little wild

Calee looked up after a few minutes last night and realized the boys were gone and she was reading to herself. I wish I had gotten a pic of her expression! So funny!

Calee in D.C.

Calee and LuLu had a great time in D.C. They have a big time everywhere they go!

She enjoyed the White House Egg Roll, but I think she was even more excited about the Smithsonian and Spy Museum! I am so thankful she was able to to and have this experience and make memories for life! Thanks LuLu!

Here are a few of my favorite pics.

Waiting to do the Easter Egg Roll

Easter Sunday. They went to St. Johns Episcopal Church.

LOVE this one! She looks right at home!

Easter with the Boys

It was a strange Easter for me! Calee is in Washington D.C. with my mom (LuLu) for the White House Egg Roll. I am so excited for them, but really missed spending Easter weekend with her! This is the first Easter she has ever spent away from me! I will post all the pictures from their trip this week. I know they have had a great time.

We didn't take Cohen to church, he is still battling a cough and runny nose. I just didn't want to chance him catching anything while his immune system is still so weak. I did dress him in his cute Easter outfit, and take some pictures of the boys. Ames wore this outfit 2 Easter's ago. I love seeing both the boys wear outfits, I think it is just so sweet!

Hope you all had a blessed Easter!

Cohen's first Easter in the NICU! So happy to have him home this year!

One year later=) Such a big boy!

Cohen is giving Ames a "love pat" They will not look at the camera lately!

1 YEAR AGO!!!!!!!

To tell you the truth, I have been having a little bit of a rough morning. After all the information yesterday, I am a little overwhelmed.

Then, I realized today is April 21st.

April 21st is one of the happiest days of my life. It has been exactly 1 year  since we brought our little Cohen home from the hospital! After 120 days of driving back and forth to Nashville and feeling like we lived at the hospital, we finally came home.

1 year ago he weighed 8 lbs. 8 ounces. He is now 18 lbs 6 ounces! He is a happy, sweet and loving little boy that blesses our lives everyday.
Here is a then and now pic!

Update on Cohen

It has been a rough couple of weeks with Cohen. He has had a terrible virus and we have spent lots of time at the doctor and even an eventful E.R. trip I will detail for you later. He is still hanging onto a cold, but is finally getting back to his normal happy self.  I am so happy he wasn't admitted to the hospital this time, even though it was close a couple of times!

Yesterday, We headed to Vandy to 2 appointments. His G tube has been leaking and having some yucky discharge, so we had it checked out. All looked fine there.

Next we headed to the Orthopedic doctor to talk about scheduling his foot surgery. At our last appointment in the late fall, I asked the doctor if we could wait until flu/RSV season was over to perform surgery. He said yes, so we are just now going back. Cohen has been doing physical therapy on his feet all winter and spring.

This is the only doctors office at Vandy that we consistently wait for hours. We brought books, magazines, etc. to prepare for the hours of misery! Our appointment time was 2:45. I think Dr. Lovejoy walked in the room at 2:40! SHOCKING!!

Unfortunately, that is the only positive part of our visit. The Doctor now thinks both feet need the surgery ( heel cord clipped) , and then casts for 6 weeks (he told us 3 weeks last time). Then he said Cohen would wear leg braces "indefinitely". You could have knocked me over with a feather at this point. There has never been any mention of this before.

We thought we understood that the surgery and casting would be the end of this. Apparently, that is not the case. This ortho doctor (like the first one we had) thinks that the problem is neurological. So, meaning if we do the surgery and he does not wear leg braces the feet will go back to how they were before surgery.

He said the braces will go up to the knee. All I could think of was poor little Forest Gump. I know that is not what they will look like, but it was just the image that popped into my head.

I kept saying, "What do you mean by that?" and "Are you sure?". The doctor is really nice and very patient, but I feel like he is so used to seeing all this that he is immune to it.

SO-----here is where we go from here.

Cohen will have heel cord surgery on both feet, along with another small procedure done by his ENT. We are waiting on both doctors to coordinate their schedules so we don't have the exact date yet. They said it should be soon though. I forgot to mention that this surgery is known for a easy recovery and is very quick. We are thankful for those things.

Cohen will then be in cast for 6 weeks before going into the leg braces. He will also continue his PT during and after all this.

Let me say all that to say this. I firmly believe they still just don't know why his feet are the way they are. Is it neurological? Is it because my water broke so early and he couldn't move? This is what we don't know. Probably will never know for sure.

What I do know is we will do everything in our power for him to be able to walk, hop, skip, jump, and everything else children do! Cohen is such a strong willed little trooper. I have no doubt he will be running circles around us soon. Braces or not!

Please continue to pray for sweet Cohen! We love and appreciate you all so much. I will keep you updated.

Guess Who?

Guess who is crawling?????

Yes! Cohen is now doing an "army" crawl! He is everywhere! I will post some pictures later. He mostly follows a certain little redhead around!

Happy Friday to you all!
